Japanese ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) such as Japan Post <6178>, Advantest <6857>, Tokyo Electron <8035>, Mizuho Financial Group <8411>, Disco <6146>, Mitsui & Co <8031>, Hoya <7741>, etc. have risen compared to the Tokyo Stock Exchange (converted at 1 dollar to 146.84 yen), and general buying has become dominant. Chicago Nikkei 225 futures settled at 36,415 yen, up 195 yen from Osaka daytime, vs. yen.

The US equity market rose. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended trading at 39,765.64, up 408.63 points, while the Nasdaq rose 407 points to 17,187.61. Buyback expectations for the rest of the year surged in the wake of the lower-than-expected July Producer Price Index (PPI), resulting in an upward trend after the start of trading. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which will be announced on the 14th, is also expected to show further improvement in inflation, bolstering buying throughout the day. High-tech buying was strong due to the perception of lower interest rates, and the market expanded its gains towards the end of trading and concluded on a high note.

Dollar-yen fell from 147.51 yen to 146.60 yen in the New York foreign exchange market on the 13th and closed at 146.88 yen. The Producer Price Index (PPI) for July beat expectations and slowed down, contributing to expectations of a 0.5% interest rate cut at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting in September and intensifying selling of the dollar. Euro-dollar rose from 1.0925 to 1.1000 dollars and closed at 1.0997 dollars.

NY crude oil futures for September fell (NYMEX crude oil September futures closing price: 78.35 ↓1.71).
