About three weeks after withdrawing from the election, US President Biden accepted his first media interview. He admitted that he was under pressure from within the Democratic Party before he withdrew from the race, and specifically mentioned former Speaker of the House Pelosi.

"Some Democratic colleagues in both the House and the Senate thought that I would affect their election," Biden said.

The 2024 US election is scheduled for November 5, when all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 seats in the Senate will also be up for election to produce a new US Congress.

"I was worried that if I continued to run, it would become a topic. You might ask me, why did Nancy Pelosi say or do this, and I think it would distract from the focus of the election," he said.

Previously, some media reported that Pelosi had planned the action to force Biden to withdraw from the race, and she herself did not completely deny this claim.

However, when interviewed by CBS, Biden did not elaborate on whether his relationship with Pelosi was affected by this.

"When I first ran, I thought of myself as a transitional president. I can't even say how old I am, it's hard for me to say it," Biden said. He added that these factors, along with the key priority of "maintaining democracy," contributed to his decision to withdraw from the race.

"Pelosi was accused of plotting the action to force Biden to withdraw from the race."

According to media reports, Pelosi played a "key role" behind the scenes in pushing for Biden to withdraw from the race, and whenever questions about Biden's withdrawal from the race began to fizzle out or lose momentum, Pelosi would become the "agitator."

Pelosi revealed in an interview last week that she had not spoken to Biden since he withdrew from the race.

She also said that she and Biden have been friends for many years, but the political chaos in July damaged their friendship.

Pelosi, 84, is still a federal congressman, her 19th term as a congressman. From 2003 to 2023, Pelosi was the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives and the first female leader of a political party in American history.
