This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In Mirion Technologies

Simply Wall St ·  Aug 9 18:33

Anyone interested in Mirion Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:MIR) should probably be aware that the Group President of Technologies, Loic Eloy, recently divested US$219k worth of shares in the company, at an average price of US$9.91 each. That sale was 15% of their holding, so it does make us raise an eyebrow.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Mirion Technologies

Notably, that recent sale by Loic Eloy is the biggest insider sale of Mirion Technologies shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$10.11. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 15% of Loic Eloy's holding.

Does Mirion Technologies Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Mirion Technologies insiders own about US$14m worth of shares. That equates to 0.7% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Mirion Technologies Insiders?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. Insiders own shares, but we're still pretty cautious, given the history of sales. So we'd only buy after careful consideration.
