According to the latest third-quarter wearable bracelet market shipment data released by market research firm Canalys, thanks to the increasing popularity of Xiaomi bracelets in China and other Asian markets, global wearable bracelet shipments increased 65% year-on-year to 45.5 million units.
The Xiaomi Mi Band is still far ahead, with shipments reaching 12.2 million units in the third quarter, an increase of 74% over the previous year. Since the third quarter of 2015, driven by strong domestic market performance and active overseas expansion strategies, Xiaomi's global market share reached a new high of 27%.
Apple is second only to Xiaomi in market share, ranking second with 15% market share. Canalys pointed out that Apple recorded its highest year-on-year increase since the second quarter of 2017.
With 5.9 million units shipped in the third quarter, Huawei ranked third, with an annual increase of 243%. The strong performance in the domestic market put Huawei ahead of Fitbit. Fourth-ranked Fitbit weakened slightly this quarter and was the only supplier among the top five suppliers whose shipments did not increase year over year. Samsung ranked fifth, and the recent launch of the Galaxy Fit boosted the company's performance in the Asia-Pacific region.
