The US stock market fell on the 7th. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 234.21 points (-0.60%) to 38,763.45, the Nasdaq fell 171.05 points (-1.05%) to 16,195.80, and the S&P500 ended trading at 5,199.50, down 40.53 points (-0.77%). Buying back continued following the easing of concerns about an economic downturn, rising after the opening. After the buyback ended, selling pressure from uncertainty about the strong economy reignited, inhibiting upward movement. In the final phase, selling intensified, wary of the weak results of the 10-year bond auction, and the market turned down to close.
The Tokyo market started trading with a selling trend due to the fall of US stocks and the sudden rebound. After the market opened, the Nikkei average fell to 34,207.16 yen, and at one point, the decline widened; but after the selling wave, the decline gradually narrowed due to the stabilization of the foreign exchange and interest rate markets, making buybacks dominant. There were also scenes where the Nikkei average and TOPIX rebounded before the morning close. However, as the movement of the Nikkei average continued to be rough, with a fluctuation of more than 1000 yen, funds were limited to those that stood firm. In the afternoon session, it traded in negative territory compared to the previous day's close.
At the closing bell, the Nikkei average dropped by 258.47 yen (0.74%) from the previous day to 34,831.15 yen. Trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 2,419,220,000 shares, and trading value was 5,350,900,000,000 yen. Among the industry sectors, nonferrous metals, metal products, banking, other financial businesses, and wholesale trade declined, while mining, petroleum and coal products, retail trade, food, and land transportation rose. The number of rising stocks listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 35.7%, while the number of declining stocks was 62.3%.
Advantest <6857> was the largest contributor to the decline, pushing the Nikkei average down by about 64 yen with one stock. SoftBank G <9984> was second, followed by Shiseido <4911>, Chugai Pharmaceutical <4519>, TDK <6762>, Nippon Denshi <6988>, Fanuc <6954>, and others.
On the other hand, the largest contributor to the rise in stock prices was Fast Retailing <9983>, which raised the Nikkei average by about 76 yen with one stock. Laser Tech <6920> was second, followed by Nitori HD <9843>, Asahi <2502>, Daikin Industries <6367>, Nexon <3659>, and Bannam HD <7832>.
