$MicroStrategy (MSTR.US)$ Founder Michael Saylor said that he personally accumulated about 1 billion US dollars worth of bitcoin.
About four years ago, Saylor revealed in a tweet that he owned 17,732 bitcoins, and as the CEO of the company with the most bitcoins, he stated in an interview that he has not sold any digital tokens. As of the time of writing, bitcoin is trading above $57,000.
"I will continue to buy more bitcoin," Saylor said, but he refused to disclose the exact amount of bitcoin he personally owns, "I think it's a great capital investment asset for individuals, families, institutions, companies, or countries. I can't think of a better area to invest in."
As of the end of July, MicroStrategy held 0.2265 million bitcoins. The company began purchasing this cryptocurrency in 2020 as a way to hedge against inflation.
After the company wrote down its approximately $13 billion bitcoin holdings, it suffered losses for the second consecutive quarter in the three months ending in June.
Since MicroStrategy began buying bitcoin, the company's stock price has risen by nearly 1,000 percent, while bitcoin has grown by more than 500 percent during the same period.
