Insider Buys Additional US$251k In CVRx Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Aug 7 19:23

Investors who take an interest in CVRx, Inc. (NASDAQ:CVRX) should definitely note that the President, Kevin Hykes, recently paid US$8.36 per share to buy US$251k worth of the stock. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

CVRx Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent purchase by Kevin Hykes was the biggest purchase of CVRx shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$9.05 per share to be enticing. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the CVRx insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.

While CVRx insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does CVRx Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. From looking at our data, insiders own US$1.0m worth of CVRx stock, about 0.6% of the company. I generally like to see higher levels of ownership.

What Might The Insider Transactions At CVRx Tell Us?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. While the overall levels of insider ownership are below what we'd like to see, the history of transactions imply that CVRx insiders are reasonably well aligned, and optimistic for the future. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
