Caixin News reports on August 7th (Editor Zhou Ziyi) that Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the President of the United States, announced that he will accept an interview with Elon Musk next Monday (August 12th). Musk's companies include Tesla, SpaceX, and social media platform X. $TSLA.US$ , SpaceX, and social media platform X.

Donald Trump made a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating 'On Monday night, I will be having an important conversation with Elon Musk - details to follow!'.

It is not currently clear where the interview will be held.

Earlier this year, in May, it was reported that Musk's social media platform X was planning a live broadcast conference with former President Trump before the U.S. presidential election. Musk later retweeted the news and replied that it would be 'interesting,' suggesting that Trump might livestream on the X platform.

Trump was a top user of Twitter (now renamed X platform) for many years until the platform announced in 2021 that it was banning his account because he incited his supporters to riot at the U.S. Capitol. The ban was lifted after Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion. On August 24th last year, after more than two and a half years, Trump returned to his X platform account and posted a photo of himself declaring that he would 'never surrender.'

Although Trump's X platform account has been reinstated, he still prefers to reside on Truth Social. Truth Social is owned by the publicly traded Trump Media, whose largest shareholder is the former president.

Therefore, if the dialogue Trump has promised is live-streamed on the X platform, it would mean that Trump will appear on the platform for the first time in a year.

Musk endorses Trump

Last month, at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump survived an attempted assassination. A bullet pierced his right ear, but did not harm him. After the incident, Musk announced his support for Trump's candidacy, breaking a longstanding tradition among leaders of social media platforms who claim to be neutral.

Musk also created and funded a political action committee supporting Trump's campaign, called the America PAC. It is said that Musk will also make a large personal donation to Trump, though it may not be as much as the rumored monthly donation of $45 million. This has been enough to make Trump frequently mention Musk as a key ally during his campaign rallies.

During the Georgia state campaign rally last weekend, Trump stated that he 'supports electric cars' and that he 'has to do it' because 'Elon supports me very strongly.'

Recently, America PAC, created by Musk, has drawn the attention of the attorney general's office in North Carolina and the Michigan secretary of state.

On Sunday, August 4th, the Michigan secretary of state's office released a statement saying that the America PAC committee is under investigation in Michigan because its collection of voter information may violate state law.

On Monday, August 5th, the North Carolina Board of Elections stated that it is investigating America PAC after receiving a complaint that the organization collected personal data of website users and did not help register voters as promised.

However, recently, America PAC created by Musk has drawn attention from the attorney general's office of North Carolina and the secretary of state of Michigan.

The Michigan secretary of state's office released a statement on Sunday, August 4th, saying that the America PAC committee is under investigation in Michigan because its collection of voter information may violate state law.

Therefore, if Trump's promised dialogue is live-streamed on the X platform, it would mean that Trump will appear on the platform for the first time in a year.
