A comprehensive collaborative agreement has been signed between Shinshu University and industry-academia collaboration to develop cutting-edge technology and contribute to the social return of achievements.

Shimadzu Corporation has signed a "Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement" with Shinshu University, a national university corporation, on August 5th, aiming to jointly research and implement social outcomes of research results for solving social issues. The contract period is 5 years. Based on this agreement, both parties will jointly explore topics related to cutting-edge technologies related to water and energy, utilize our analytical and measurement technologies, and work together to cultivate researchers and engineers from both sides. Joint research between both parties will be conducted at a new base scheduled to be completed on Shinshu University Matsumoto Campus in March 2025.

Shinshu University has a proven track record and expertise in material development such as the artificial crystal creation method "Flux Method" using various solvents (flux), and "Shin-dai Crystal" using the "Flux Method". In addition, as a vision for the next 10 years, Shinshu University aims to co-create one-step-ahead solutions based on its research capabilities in the field of Aqua Regeneration (ARG) and has established the Aqua Regeneration Organization in March of this year as a base for advancing research in this field. Shinshu University has been adopted as a subsidy project by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "J-PEAKS: Promoting Enhancement of Advanced Research Centers at Universities" for the purpose of improving the university's research capabilities in fiscal year 2023.

Shimadzu Corporation has strengths in evaluating and measuring new technologies and new materials using a variety of analytical and measurement instruments and technologies. In its medium-term management plan, the company has defined the field of healthcare and carbon neutrality, including the life sciences, as a social value creation area. We will consider joint research with Shinshu University ARG Organization on topics such as "purification and recycling of water using advanced materials such as Shin-dai Crystal" and "generation and utilization of water-derived hydrogen energy" expected to be the next-generation energy. In addition, we will promote the implementation of joint research results by applying them to devices that recycle solvents used in analytical and measurement instruments and efficiency evaluation systems for important catalysts in the energy field. Shimadzu Corporation will continue to contribute to the healthcare and green fields through various analytical and measurement instruments and technologies.
