In the international market, gold is usually priced in US dollars per ounce. In China, gold is priced using the Renminbi and gram. Gold prices can be divided into physical gold prices, international gold prices, domestic gold prices, gold futures prices, gold recovery prices, etc., and different price standards should be selected according to different usage scenarios.

For example, when investors purchase physical gold, they pay attention to the prices of jewelry in retail gold shops like Lao Feng Xiang or Chow Sang Sang, or the price of gold bars in commercial banks. Both of these prices are based on domestic and foreign benchmark gold prices and fluctuate based on processing fees.

International gold prices usually refer to London gold, also known as the spot price of gold, which is measured in US dollars per ounce. Using the price of London gold, offshore RMB exchange rates, and the weight of a troy ounce (31.1035 grams), the international gold price can be calculated in RMB per gram. The benchmark for domestic gold prices is the Shanghai Gold Exchange's twice daily published Shanghai gold benchmark price. Domestic and international gold prices are two different prices, which generally rise and fall together but still have certain differences, known as domestic gold premiums.

Gold futures prices generally focus on the main contract price of gold futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange in the United States. Gold recovery prices vary greatly and are flexibly adjusted by commercial banks and retail recovery merchants based on benchmark prices, their own situations, and market supply and demand.
