Today's Growth Market saw a sharp decline in both the Tokyo Growth Market Index and the Tokyo Growth Market 250 Index. 58 stocks rose, 513 fell, and 15 remained unchanged.
The US stock market rose on July 31. The Dow Jones rose by 99.46 points (+0.24%) to 40,842.79, the Nasdaq rose by 451.98 points (+2.64%) to 17,599.40, and the S&P 500 rose by 85.86 points (+1.58%) to 5,522.30 at the close of trading. The opening was mixed ahead of the outcome of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announcement, but bullish earnings from major high-tech companies led to strong buying throughout the day and kept the market up. Although, the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) left policy interest rates unchanged as expected during the FOMC, Chairman Powell's hint of a rate cut in September during the subsequent press conference helped to increase market expectations and ended up pushing the market higher.
US stocks rose, but with the risk of yen appreciation accelerating, the trend of selling was reflected in the Growth Market, where trading started in a sell-dominant manner. Like the Prime Market, the Tokyo Growth Market Index and the Tokyo Growth Market 250 Index showed a consistent decline from the opening, with the largest decline this year. Among the 20 stocks in the Tokyo Growth Market Core Index, only GMO Financial Gate <4051> was in the black, and major stocks collapsed. Although the trading volume of biotech stocks in the two-digit stock price range is high, the trade value is about 100 billion yen due to lack of buying interest. In individual stocks, Modaris <4883> and Solegia <4597>, which were bought the previous day, became sell-dominant, and among the top market capitalization stocks, GENDA <9166>, JTOWER <4485>, and Sea You Sea <9158> fell sharply. Wash House <6537>, Azum <3496>, and Logos HD <205A> ranked high in the rate of decline.
In contrast, Vega Corporation <3542> was bought on the material of good business performance, and the newly listed Timmy <215A>, which was sell-dominant, finally rebounded. Biotech-related stocks such as OTS <4564>, Cell Seed <7776>, Anges <4563>, and Perseus <4882> ranked high in the rate of increase.
Among the stocks adopted by the Tokyo Growth Market Core Index, GENDA, JTOWER, Sea You Sea, TKP <3479>, and Sunwells <9229> were sold.
