On July 16, Morgan Stanley reported second-quarter EPS of $1.82, up from $1.24 a year ago and beating the consensus of $1.65. The U.S. bank reported second-quarter sales of $15.02 billion, up 11.6% year over year, beating the consensus of $14.30 billion.

Jim Lebenthal of Cerity Partners said Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) is less than 5% from its all-time high.
Exxon Mobil will release its second quarter financial results before the opening bell on Friday, Aug. 2. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings at $2.03 per share, up from $1.94 per share in the year-ago period. Exxon Mobil expects to report quarterly revenue of $90.99 billion, compared to $82.91 billion a year earlier.
Stephanie Link of Hightower said Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ:STX) reported a great quarter.
On July 23, Seagate reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results and issued first-quarter guidance above estimates. The company reported quarterly earnings of $1.05 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 75 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $1.890 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.877 billion.
