NEC, in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan Residential Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Toru Kamura), plans to install a facial recognition system in the entrance doors and common areas of all 340 general rooms of the senior residence "Parkwell State Nishiazabu," which is scheduled to open in October 2024. By implementing a stress-free movement and monitoring function in collaboration with external safety confirmation systems through facial recognition, the system will contribute to the convenience and safety of residents. Furthermore, the introduction of a facial recognition system to all general dwelling rooms in a senior residence is the first in Japan. (Note 1)

"Parkwell State Nishiazabu" is the flagship property of the "Parkwell State" series offered by Mitsui Fudosan Residential Co., Ltd., which has various shared facilities designed to suit the various lifestyles of residents under the brand concept of "Life-styling × Longevity". It is also the first in the city center.
The facial recognition system provided by NEC this time will be introduced not only to each room, but also to shared facilities such as the entrance and pool. This not only makes it possible to go out without carrying a key, but also makes movement in the building smoother and eliminates the hassle of losing or forgetting keys or handling keys while carrying luggage. In addition, by utilizing facial recognition, we will realize the monitoring of residents that was difficult with the previous key-based system, such as identifying long-time residents in specific locations such as large baths and collaborating with a safety confirmation system.

Also, by identifying individuals with facial recognition, it is possible to eliminate the confirmation of allergy information previously announced and the billing procedure on the spot.
This system uses NEC's facial recognition technology, which is the core technology of NEC's biometric authentication "Bio-IDiom" (Note 2) and boasts the world's No.1 (Note 3) authentication accuracy.

"Bio-IDiom" is a general term for NEC's biometric authentication, including face, iris, fingerprint/palm print, finger veins, voice, ear acoustics, and other features. Leveraging world-class technology and extensive track record, we will realize a world where everyone can use digital with peace of mind by using or combining biometric authentication according to the needs.
  • Therefore, in this experiment, to solve such problems, Yasashii Te Inc. collaborated with Sharp to equip RoBoHoN with MICSUS which not only enables language communication but also non-verbal communication such as gestures. By becoming a familiar presence that blends into the elderly's daily lives, the robot aims to maintain interest in robots and to promote communication between the elderly and their families. Moreover, functions such as "chat functions," "share functions for conversation history and its summary," and "warning function when there are noteworthy responses" have been added to MICSUS. This aims to increase the amount of information collected, including the daily interests of the elderly through chatting, in addition to the information necessary for the care industry. Also, sharing health conditions and daily interests with families living far away can activate communication. If a noteworthy response arises concerning health, a warning screen appears on the dedicated website, enabling prompt response in emergencies.
