PetroChina (00857.HK) signed the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Covenant (OGDC) under the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), committing to work together to reduce carbon emissions and become one of over 50 petroleum and natural gas producers committed to emission reduction. With the addition of PetroChina to the OGDC, signatories now account for over 42% of global oil production.

PetroChina's President Huang Yongzhang stated that the Group has been committed to green development, accelerating the transition to a green and low-carbon future through the adoption of "clean substitution, strategic substitution, and green development". PetroChina aims to transform into an integrated energy company that includes oil, natural gas, thermal energy, electrical utilities, and hydrogen, and actively promotes the industrialization of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) through demonstration projects, contributing to the global green and low-carbon transition in the future.
