Many members of the Democratic Party have expressed that they will fully support Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. Sources within Trump's campaign team revealed that they will depict Harris as the "copilot" of the current government, making her responsible for some of the immigration and cost of living issues.
Early Monday morning Beijing time (July 22), U.S. President Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election. Subsequently, many members of the Democratic Party expressed that they will fully support Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
In response to this, Taylor Budowich, CEO of the political action committee MAGA Inc, which supports Trump, stated that his team has conducted targeted research on several potential Democratic candidates and is prepared for all possible outcomes.
At present, there is still a way to go before Harris becomes the Democratic Party's official candidate for president. After Biden announced his withdrawal from the competition, Trump, who has now secured the Republican Party's nomination for president, told the media, "It will be easier to defeat Harris than to defeat Joe Biden."
According to media reports, sources within Trump's campaign team have also revealed that they will depict Harris as the "copilot" (co-pilot) of the current government, making her responsible for some of the immigration and cost of living issues.
"Copilot" literally translates to "vice driver" or "copilot", referring to the person who assists the main driver or pilot in the course of flying or driving. This term is also commonly used in a metaphorical sense, referring to the person who assists the leader in a certain project or task.
Trump's campaign team stated that they will closely link Harris with Biden's immigration policy. Republicans believe that Biden's immigration policy is the reason for the sharp increase in the number of illegal crossings between the United States and Mexico.
The second point of attack will focus on economic issues. Many opinion polls show that Americans are dissatisfied with high food and fuel costs, as well as interest rates that make buying a house difficult. The annual rate of U.S. CPI announced earlier this month was 3%, and the average interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages is around 7%.
At last week's Republican National Convention, an advisor to Trump stated, "She (Harris) is the 'copilot' of the Biden vision. If they turn to Biden 2.0 and make 'Kamala the cackler' their Democratic candidate, we have no problem with that."
Yesterday, MAGA Inc announced that it will withdraw its planned anti-Biden TV commercial in swing states and replace it with an attack ad against Harris. The new ad accuses Harris of hiding Biden's health condition from the public and blames her for some of the mistakes made by the Biden administration.
The 30-second ad claims, "Harris knows Joe is incapable of doing the job, so she has taken over. Look at what she's accomplished: a border invasion, runaway inflation, the death of the American Dream."
Republican political advisor Jeanette Hoffman stated that although Harris may bring changes to the election, her close relationship with Biden will drag down her campaign because "Harris does not represent the change that America seeks."
However, Republican strategist Chip Felkel warned that Trump's campaign team cannot simply treat Harris as Biden, and that "she may be attractive to some of the crucial voters of the Democratic Party" as an African-Asian woman.
Democratic Party strategist Rodell Mollineau also believes that Harris can inspire excitement in these important groups of voters, thereby launching a "more energetic campaign."
