During the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday evening, former US President Trump gave a speech after being nominated and recounted an assassination attempt that nearly took his life.

"I shouldn't be here tonight," Trump said with a grim face.

"I stand before you as a beneficiary of the boundless energy and commitment of all the citizens, " Trump said, before he went to kiss the helmet of fireman Corey Comperatore, who died in the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania last Saturday.

"As Americans, we are intertwined in a common destiny. We will rise or fall together. Despite the disgusting attack, we come together tonight more united than ever before. Our determination will not be deterred, our goal will not change, that is, to build a government that serves the American people," Trump said.

Trump also expressed his gratitude to the American people for their love and support after the failed assassination attempt.

"Tonight, I'm here to paint a vision for the entire country. I will extend my loyalty and friendship to every citizen, young and old, man and woman, Democrat, Republican, or independent, black or white, Asian or Hispanic," Trump said.

Throughout the entire speech, Trump never mentioned Biden's name, and this was a surprising and intentional "oversight".

As of Thursday night, Biden remained the presumptive Democratic nominee. But the omission of Biden's name highlighted the very real possibility that he will not appear on the November ballot.

Biden performed poorly in last month's debate with Trump, and people are increasingly concerned about his mental state. Democratic leaders and members of Congress have put pressure on him to withdraw from the race.

Although not mentioning Biden by name, Trump attacked Biden's performance over the past three and a half years, especially on his border policy.

"Less than four years ago, I handed the strongest border in American history over to this government," Trump said. "This administration terminated every great Trump policy that I put in place to block the border. The largest invasion in history is now happening in our country - they come from every corner of the world, not just South America, but also Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. They come from all directions, yet this government has taken no action to stop them."

He said the United States faces an "inflation crisis, hard to sustain life, and a devastating blow to the income of working and low-income families."

Trump promised at the Republican National Committee (RNC) that, if elected, "America will be respected again." "No nation would question our strength. No enemy would doubt our power." Prior to this, Trump called for national unity and an end to "disharmony and division."

In Thursday's speech, Trump continued to view the world with an "apocalyptic view." Trump said:"This is a rare international crisis in the world."

"Wars are raging in Europe and the Middle East, and shadows of conflict are looming over South Korea, the Philippines, and the entire Asia. Our planet is hovering on the brink of World War III, which will be an unprecedented war. Now is the time for change. We cannot sustain such a government for four more years. "
