Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co., Ltd. stated that it will continue to negotiate patents with third parties to determine a reasonable licensing fee.

On July 12th, the Star Daily reported (Reporter Tang Zhixiao) that Qualcomm has sued Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co. Ltd. in an Indian court, claiming that the company has infringed upon four of its non-standard essential patents.

In response to this, a spokesperson for Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co. Ltd. told a reporter from the Star Daily, "Transsion respects third-party intellectual property rights and is willing to follow the Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) principles to reach intellectual property licensing agreements with patent holders through friendly negotiations. We have signed a 5G standard patent licensing agreement with Qualcomm and are fulfilling the agreement.

It is reported that Transsion's sales network covers more than 70 emerging markets, including Africa and South Asia. According to Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co. Ltd., in these countries, some patent holders do not have or only have a small number of patents, but they demand license fees that are too high and not in line with the global unified rate, without considering differences in regional economic development levels, the lack of patents or only a small number of patents in specific regions or markets, and the existence of different rates in different regions. "We believe that some patent holders' actions do not fully comply with the FRAND principles."

Transsion stated that it will continue to negotiate with third parties on patents and promote the determination of reasonable license fees under the framework of Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory principles while respecting the intellectual property rights of others.

According to data from the market research firm Canalys, in the first quarter of 2024, the top five brands in the Indian smartphone market were Samsung, Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO, and realme, while Transsion was listed among other brands. Canalys senior analyst Sanyam Chaurasia said that Infinix, a subsidiary of Transsion, achieved double-digit growth, narrowing the gap with leading mobile phone manufacturers.

However, Transsion's main market is still in Africa. According to data released by Canalys, shipments in the African market reached 18.2 million units, a year-on-year growth of 24%. Among them, Transsion's brands shipped 9.5 million units, a year-on-year growth of 36%, and a market share of 52%.
