On the evening of July 11, Caixin reported that Shenzhen airport (000089.SZ) announced its half-yearly performance forecast today. The company is expected to turn losses into profits in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, benefiting from the accelerated recovery of the civil aviation industry and the increase in business volume.
According to the announcement, Shenzhen airport is expected to achieve a net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of CNY 0.146 billion to CNY 0.196 billion in the first half of this year, compared with a loss of CNY 55.1 million in the same period last year. Shenzhen airport explained that as China's civil aviation industry continues to develop favorably, the company's main business has steadily grown, leading to a year-on-year increase in operating income and performance.
According to the company's monthly production and operation report, as of the end of June, Shenzhen airport's cumulative passenger throughput reached 29.3772 million, an increase of 20.57% year-on-year; the number of takeoffs and landings reached 0.2063 million, an increase of 10.20% year-on-year.
Shenzhen airport stated that the next step will be to actively expand and increase passenger routes.
It is worth noting that the core transportation hub project of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, officially opened for trial operation on June 30, connecting the two major urban clusters of Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou and Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen across the sea, shortening the travel time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan from the previous 2 hours to 30 minutes. Shenzhen airport is expected to benefit from this.
Industry analysts told Caixin that after the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, there may be more air passenger and cargo traffic choosing the more convenient Shenzhen airport. They gave an example that consumers in west bank cities such as Zhongshan and Jiangmen used to travel about 2 hours to airports in Guangzhou and Zhuhai, but with the significantly shortened travel time from Zhongshan to Shenzhen, the advantages of Shenzhen airport are more obvious.
Caixin reporters learned that on June 30, Shenzhen airport launched the Zhongshan airport, and opened the Shenzhen-Zhongshan airport line and the Jiangmen-Shenzhen airport express line.
