1. Business Overview

The segments after business integration are automobile/industrial machinery parts business, piping/construction equipment business, and others (thermal engineering business, EMC business, sales of products, etc.).

The main products in the automobile and industrial machinery parts business are piston rings, valve seats, etc., which are engine parts. We are also developing industrial machinery parts and engine parts for ships, mainly sintered parts, resin parts, and raw material parts related to automobile engines, transmissions, drives, and undercarriages.

The main products in the plumbing and construction equipment business are piping equipment such as pipe joints. In 2023/5, Riken became a subsidiary of Nippon Fittings, a major plumbing fittings company, and became the top company in the domestic piping fittings industry.

In addition, they are developing a thermal engineering business that handles the development, manufacture, and sale of the uniquely developed metal heating element “Pyromax (R)” and the ceramic heating element “Pyromax Super (R)” and heat treatment of heater units, industrial furnaces, etc. utilizing them, and the EMC business that handles the development and sale of anechoic chambers, etc. In 2024/2, Riken made Shinwabanes, which has strengths in small to medium heater units in the low temperature area for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, a subsidiary in order to expand its thermal engineering business.

The sales composition ratio for the fiscal year ending 2024/3 (based on financial statements) was 76.5% for the automobile/industrial machinery parts business, 12.3% for the plumbing and construction equipment business, and 11.2% for others. Note, if you look at the segment-by-segment trend before the business integration of Riken and NPR, it can be seen that both companies mainly focus on automotive parts related to piston rings, etc.
