On July 9th, 1PointFive, a carbon capture company, announced that it has reached an agreement with Microsoft to sell 0.5 million tons of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credit over the next six years. 1PointFive is the carbon capture, utilization, and storage division of Occidental Petroleum, a natural gas company. This agreement is part of Microsoft's goal to achieve negative carbon emissions by 2030. Earlier this year, telecom company AT&T agreed to purchase carbon credit from 1PointFive as part of its goal to achieve global business emission reduction and carbon neutrality by 2035. Carbon credits are a tradable license that allows owners to emit a certain amount of greenhouse gases.
