International cruise giant Viking Holdings (VIK.US) announced on Friday that its latest sea liner has been launched, marking an important construction milestone.
According to the company, after two days of dock water injection, the Viking Vesta will float out of the dock and then be transferred to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior decoration.
Like all Viking ships, the Viking Vesta is classified as a small ship, with a total tonnage of 54,300 tons and 499 cabins that can accommodate 998 guests. The ship is scheduled to make its debut in July 2025 and will spend its maiden season in the Mediterranean and northern Europe.
"As we prepare to welcome Viking Vesta next summer and its sister ship Viking Vela this fall, we look forward to introducing more curious travelers to the Viking way of exploration," said CEO Torstein Hagen.
