According to the WiseNews app, Mark Zuckerberg announced on his official account on Wednesday that Meta's Threads app has over 175 million monthly active users. There are reports that the company may start selling ads on the "Twitter killer" app.

As a competitor to X, Threads was officially launched in July last year and had up to 100 million registered users in the first five days due to initial hype. In the following weeks, Meta caused Threads to lose more than half of its users.

With X's product changes, Meta took advantage and launched Threads last year, boldly competing with long-term rivals. The platform has likes, followers, and user interaction-based post sources, and has increased its active users by nearly 25 million this quarter.

Since launching Threads connected to its popular app Instagram, Meta has introduced multiple features such as fact-checking, popular topics, economic rewards for highly prominent influencers who post on the app, sports scores, and messaging to improve user experience.
