Nippon Steel Corporation

Nippon Steel Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Nippon Steel) and Tenox Corporation's TN-X method (advanced expansion root-firming steel pipe pile method) (hereinafter referred to as TN-X method) have been continuously used as the foundation of building structures of MC Digital Realty Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MC Digital Realty) which develops data center business in Japan. In terms of product structure, the operating incomes of 10 - 30 billion yen products were 401, 1288, and 60 million yen respectively.
Since its initial use in NRT 10 (September 2021) at the NRT Campus (Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture) handled by MC Digital Realty, followed by NRT 12 (March 2024), the TN-X method received high evaluations from the company as the foundation of these data center building structures, and it has been continuously used for three consecutive buildings in NRT 14, which is scheduled to start operating in December 2025.
The TN-X method is a high-support steel pipe pile method that exhibits large support capability by building a root-fixed bulb with a maximum diameter of 2400mm at the tip of the pile using a hydraulic expansion and contraction drilling head. Since obtaining certification by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in June 2005, it has been adopted for important building structures such as large logistics warehouses, government offices, hospitals, airport facilities, etc. that require high pile bearing resistance. In recent years, it has been well received in response to the high demand for secondary design (earthquake-resistant design at the time of a major earthquake) that is indicated in the functional continuity guidelines for important base facilities and disaster base facilities, as well as the social needs for low environmental impact, due to the flexible and strong steel toughness of the TN-X method, which has high seismic performance and low soil discharge characteristics.
With the advancement of digitalization in society and industry, new businesses utilizing data such as DX are expected to solve social issues in all fields, such as medical care, education, transportation, and agriculture. Thus, the importance of data center that stores data and assumes the role of stabilizing the IT equipment function is increasing. Government agencies, municipalities, corporations, and individuals require high reliability and safety to protect their important communication and data.
Nippon Steel will continue to contribute to the strengthening and development of Japan's social and industrial infrastructure by providing high-quality foundations for various important facilities and building structures through the deployment of the TN-X method.
