Suntory Holdings Limited (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Takeshi Niinami; hereafter referred to as Suntory), Daikin Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Naofumi Taketanaka; hereafter referred to as Daikin), Koichi Transportation Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; Chairman and CEO: Tadahiko Koichi; hereafter referred to as Koichi Transportation), and NEXT Logistics Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yukio Umemura; hereafter referred to as NLJ) will start a round trip transportation of cross-industry products using double-linkage trucks to achieve sustainable and productivity-enhancing logistics, starting from July 8, 2024 (Monday).

Double-linkage trucks will be used in product transportation from Suntory's base (Yamanashi Prefecture) to the Kansai area and from Daikin's base (Shiga Prefecture) to the Kanto area. Drivers will be exchanged at Koichi Transportation's Shimada Kanaya Switch Center sales office (Shizuoka Prefecture) as the departure and arrival point.
With the utilization of double-linkage trucks, one driver can transport the cargo equivalent of two 10-ton trucks. If one driver transports the entire journey between Kanto and Kansai, the journey will take one night and two days, which will cause a long detention time. However, by setting up relay points, drivers can operate on a day trip basis, leading to improved working conditions. Additionally, CO2 emissions are expected to be reduced by approximately 35% per year compared to the transportation of cargo using two 10-ton trucks.

In the future, we will consider increasing the number of transportation routes and introducing additional double-linkage trucks depending on the situation after the start of this transportation scheme.
