Transportation and Logistics Bureau Director Lin Shixiong previously attended the General Chamber of Commerce gala dinner and stated that the authority is continuously developing and improving a public transportation system that uses railroads as the backbone and is supplemented by multiple modes, including proposing an optimization plan for the Three Railways and Three Roads, promoting the Two Railways and One Road in the new eastern towns of the northern metropolitan area, and promoting a smart and green collective transportation system.

He mentioned that Hong Kong International Airport was the busiest cargo airport in the world last year, and daily passenger volume has also returned to 75% of pre-pandemic levels and is expected to fully recover within this year. The authorities will continue to promote development projects under the vision of "Airport City," including the three-runway system, to enhance the competitiveness of the airport. The authorities are also actively promoting high-value-added marine transportation services, strengthening the promotion of the Hong Kong maritime brand and talent cultivation, and strengthening the support of the Maritime Port Authority to enhance Hong Kong's position as an international shipping center.

Lin Shixiong also pointed out that the authorities will promote the logistics industry towards intelligence, modernization, green sustainability, internationalization, and convenience, and leverage and expand Hong Kong's advantage in handling high-value goods, in order to become a sustainable international smart logistics hub with e-commerce market as the main focus, thereby enhancing Hong Kong's position as an international trade center.
