Sustainability Update: Fireside Chat 2024 (Event Report)

This time, we held a Sustainability Update: Fireside Chat 2024 to introduce initiatives related to sustainability, which is one of the pillars of our management strategy.

At the briefing session, Fumino Senami, Director and Managing Executive Officer and COO, Chris Hyams, Indeed CEO, and LaFawn Davis, Indeed Chief People & Sustainability Officer, gave presentations on the outline and progress of the 2023 fiscal year initiatives, and Fireside Chat by Sena Hami and Executive Officer Junichi Arai.

We have set 5 sustainability goals since fiscal 2021, and we aim to achieve them in 10 years until fiscal 2030.

E ・ Aim for carbon neutrality in business activities in fiscal 2021 and the entire value chain in fiscal 2030(note 1)
S ・ Reduce the time required to get to work in half by 2030(Note 2)
・ By 2030, we will support the employment of a cumulative total of approximately 30 million people facing barriers in the job market(note 3)
・ Increase the ratio of women in senior management positions, managers, and employees to approximately 50% by 2030(Note 4)
G ・ Increase the ratio of female board members, including corporate auditors, to approximately 50% by 2030(note 5)

Senanami said in her presentation about the same goal, “By continuing trial and error with the entire group in fiscal 2023, which is the third year since the target was set, we were able to definitely take a big step towards realization, although there are differences in progress for each goal. In particular, he said, “This is a year where we can see signs that efforts will accelerate with regard to the social impact target of “halving the time required until employment,” which is placed at the center of the sustainability strategy.”

Furthermore, it was reported that in addition to the five sustainability goals described above, in fiscal 2023, discussions proceeded on two important sustainability themes: “use of responsible technology including AI” and “sustainability information disclosure regulations that are advancing ahead in Europe.”

(Note 1) Greenhouse gas emissions from business activities are the sum of Scope 1 (greenhouse gases emitted directly by offices managed and owned by the company) and Scope 2 (greenhouse gases indirectly emitted through use of electricity, heat, steam energy, etc. purchased at offices managed and owned by the company). Greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain include all scope 3 (greenhouse gas emissions indirectly excluding scopes 1 and 2) in addition to scope 1 and 2. Management positions refer to all managers who have subordinates.
