■Company Overview

1. HISTORY

Shoei Pharmaceutical <3537> has a long history, and it was founded in 1937 as “Tetsuno Shoten” for the purpose of chemical wholesale business. It initially started with handling inorganic chemicals, etc., and began selling fatty acids and fatty acid derivatives from Kao Soap Co., Ltd. (currently Kao <4452>) in 1951, and took the first step as a trading company specializing in oleochemicals.

The organization was reorganized into a corporation in 1960/3, and the trade name was also changed to the current company name. In June of the same year, Shin-Nippon Oil Chemical Co., Ltd., which became a subsidiary, was renamed Tetsuno Chemical Co., Ltd., and production of chemicals such as fatty acids, fatty acid esters, and surfactants began.

We entered the civil engineering and construction materials business in 1965/4, and in addition to focusing on the development and sale of related materials, we commercialized household detergents in 1987 and started the daily necessities business. Here, the foundation of the current 3 business segments (chemicals business, daily necessities business, civil engineering and construction materials business) system was completed.

As for overseas expansion, the Singapore branch was established in 1993 for the purpose of expanding exports to Southeast Asia. Then, in 2005, Shoei-TDC (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (100% voting rights ratio) was established, and in 2009, SHOEI-TDC (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (Currently SHOEI TRADING (THAILAND) CO., LTD.) (At that time, the voting rights ratio was 49%. (Became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2012) were established, respectively.

The Osaka Plant (Tetsuno Oil Chemical was absorbed by the company's main body in 2008 as part of management rationalization, and is regarded as the Osaka Plant), which was responsible for production, was aging, so the company gradually reduced production from 2013, closed the Osaka Plant at the end of 2014, and withdrew from all production activities (the Osaka Plant site was then sold).

Today, as a specialized trading company specializing in the Oreochemical chain, it is developing three businesses: chemicals business, daily necessities business, and civil engineering and construction materials business.

Shares were listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (hereafter, Tokyo Stock Exchange) JASDAQ Standard in 2016/3, and transitioned to the standard market due to the Tokyo Stock Exchange market restructuring in 2022/4.
