According to supply chain sources, Apple has increased the foundry orders for A18 chips. Based on the increase in orders, the media speculates that Apple's sales expectations for the iPhone 16 series models are between 90-100 million units, higher than those of the iPhone 15.
According to reports, the basic version of the iPhone 16 (16 and 16 Plus) will use the A18 processor, continuing the design of the A17 Pro, but using TSMC's second-generation 3nm N3E chip; the iPhone 16 Pro will use a completely new design of the A18 Pro processor, with a size 15%-20% larger than the A18 to carry more computing units.
At the WWDC conference on June 11th, Apple officially launched the personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, and stated that it will be deeply integrated into the next generation of systems such as iOS 18. This means that iPhone 16 models pre-installed with iOS 18 will bring new AI functions at the autumn release conference, which is expected to attract many users to upgrade and boost weak iPhone sales this year.

Morgan Stanley analyst Samik Chatterjee previously stated that the AI upgrade cycle is more likely to present a 'staggered climb' pattern over two years. It is expected that during the two-year AI upgrade cycle, Apple's first-year sales focus will be in North America, with enough time to solve regulatory issues in the EU market. The second year will focus on the European and Chinese markets.
Chatterjee expects that in the AI upgrade cycle, iPhone sales will increase by 22 million units in the first year, and then increase by 24 million units in the second year. North America, China, and the Asia-Pacific region will be the main markets contributing to iPhone sales.
