Kwun Chung Bus (00306.HK) received the project contract for Hong Kong's first autonomous driving public transport system approved by the Civil Aviation Department last month. Unmanned driving vehicles will travel to and from the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Airport City, and the journey takes about 3 minutes. Kwun Chung Bus Chief Operating Officer Wong Cho-tim said that the total investment of the project is HKD 388 million, and it is expected to be put into service before the end of next year. The initial goal is to carry approximately 500 people per hour per bus, and the medium and long-term goal is to increase to 2,000 people.

Wong Cho-tim said that the company's advantage lies in its many years of experience in Hong Kong, and it has cooperated with many partners. For example, the vehicle supplier for this project is Xiamen King Long, and the autonomous driving system is provided by Baidu (09888.HK) service. Kwun Chung mainly invests in manpower and technology applications in the project, and the income model mainly achieves various requirements of the contract. The preparatory stage has already obtained the corresponding expenses. After the route begins to operate, it is believed to gradually break even and become one of its core businesses in the long run.
