As of the close on the 2nd, the number of rising stocks in the Nikkei average constituent stocks was 155, the number of falling stocks was 67, and the number of unchanged stocks was 3.

The U.S. stock market rebounded on the 1st. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended trading at 39,169.52 (+50.66 or +0.13%), while the NASDAQ rose 146.70 points (+0.83%), closing at 17,879.30. The S&P 500 rose 14.61 points (+0.27%), closing at 5,475.09. The European stock market responded favorably to the French election results and rose at the opening. However, it turned downward due to concerns of growth slowdown after the June ISM Manufacturing PMI fell slightly below market expectations and contracted for the third consecutive month. The rise in long-term interest rates weighed on the market, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average hovered around the previous day's closing level. The NASDAQ was supported by Microsoft and other AI stocks.

The Tokyo market opened with a buying bias due to the rise in US stocks. The TOPIX continued its dominance due to the continued rise in large-cap financial stocks such as insurance and banks, and updated its year-to-date high every day. Due to intermittent buying of futures due to the progress of yen depreciation, the Nikkei Average continued to widen its gains in the afternoon, and recovered to the 40,000 yen level for the first time since March 29th.

The Nikkei Average at the closing bell was 40,074.69 yen, up 443.63 yen (+1.12%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1,850,110,000 shares, and the trading value was 4,534,500,000,000 yen. By industry, marine transportation, mining, insurance, precision instruments, securities and commodity futures trading, among others, rose, while only the two sectors of pulp and paper and iron and steel fell. The number of rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 52%, while the number of falling stocks was 43%.
