According to insiders, EQT Corp (EQT.US) is close to reaching a deal to acquire a minority stake in FlixSE trade.

The Zhitong Finance App learned that, according to insiders, EQT Corp (EQT.US) is close to reaching a deal to acquire a minority stake in FlixSE. The transaction values the German bus and train operator at approximately 3 billion euros (32 billion US dollars), adding new signs to the recovery of private equity transactions recently.

Insiders said that the company is conducting in-depth negotiations and hopes to purchase approximately 30% of Flix's shares for a price of approximately 900 million euros. Flix also owns Greyhound, a North American bus service company. These insiders said that EQT Corp hopes to acquire 10% of the shares through the subscription of new shares, and at the same time purchase the remaining shares from some existing shareholders.

They added that Flix's founders may retain their shares. It is said that the announcement will be made as soon this week.

Negotiations are still underway, and it is not yet certain whether the deal will be completed. These insiders said that Flix has been considering an initial public offering, and if the sale of equity does not materialize, it may be listed in the United States as a backup plan. Representatives of EQT declined to comment, and Flix spokesperson did not immediately respond to inquiries.

Last week, private equity firms reached over $30 billion in transactions worldwide, bringing hope to the recovery after a weak M&A in the first half of this year. Only EQT Corp announced at least three transactions in June, including the sale of a majority stake in the European online real estate platform Idealista and the acquisition of a majority stake in Belgium software provider CluePoints.

According to Flix website, Flix operates bus and train services in Europe and North America, with brands including FlixBus, FlixTrain, Greyhound, and KamilKoç. The company operates the largest long-distance bus network in Europe and has about 3,000 employees in more than 20 locations.
