Hyogo Prefecture Takarazuka City, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Hyogo Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Nissan Osaka Sales Co., Ltd. signed a partnership agreement on the 1st to utilize electric vehicles (EVs) as a power source in times of disaster and to strengthen the city. The purpose of this agreement is to secure a power source by collaborating with private companies in anticipation of large-scale power outages due to disasters, and to establish a system for supplying power to evacuation facilities. This agreement is part of the city's efforts to improve disaster prevention.

Background of the agreement

In order to ensure the safety and security of residents, Takarazuka City is working with private companies to secure power sources and establish a system for supplying power to evacuation facilities in anticipation of large-scale power outages due to disasters. The city has signed this agreement as part of its efforts to improve its disaster prevention capabilities. The city of Takarazuka has also pledged support for the Blue Switch, which aims to realize decarbonization and resilience through the use of EVs.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is promoting the Japan Electrification Action 'Blue Switch' in cooperation with domestic sales companies, utilizing the know-how and network of EVs accumulated so far through energy management, circular economy, sustainable tourism, regional transportation, and next-generation education, in order to promote social change through decarbonization and resilient (disaster response) realization. • In the event of a power outage caused by a disaster in Takarazuka City, EVs deployed in the city's retail stores will be loaned out free of charge to use as power sources in the designated evacuation facilities. Takarazuka City, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Hyogo Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Nissan Osaka Sales Co., Ltd. will work together to create a sustainable community that achieves a strong local society aimed at disaster prevention and environmental measures through the active use of EVs.
