Brother Industries, Ltd. (President: Kazufumi Ikeda) will cooperate with Aichi Prefecture in conducting a feasibility study on the business of a low-carbon hydrogen model town in Chita City. In this project, we will utilize our experience as a company that manufactures and sells fuel cells to promote the use of hydrogen energy in the city, and we will cooperate in the examination of the utilization of fuel cells in public facilities and other applications.

This project is one of the adopted projects of the "Model Building-FS for Low-cost Hydrogen Supply Using Existing Infrastructure in Reiwa 6th Year" publicly solicited by the Ministry of the Environment. A feasibility study will be conducted to supply low-carbon hydrogen at low cost, aiming to implement Aichi Prefecture's hydrogen station, which boasts the largest installation base in the country, as a hydrogen supply base for the region. For example, research will also be conducted on the potential for a wide range of uses, such as supplying fuel cells installed in public facilities and residences, not just to FCVs supplied from hydrogen stations. The project will be jointly implemented by Chita City and four companies as co-implementers, and eight companies will cooperate with Aichi Prefecture. ^*Brother began selling fuel cells using hydrogen in 2018. In addition, in 2023, we will brand all our hydrogen utilization initiatives as "PureEne" and proactively promote initiatives to promote the use of hydrogen in order to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society. Against this background, we have agreed to participate as a collaborator in activities aimed at expanding hydrogen demand in this project. Through this survey, realistic hydrogen demand will be calculated for each use case, and further exploration of hydrogen utilization scenes is planned.

Brother will contribute to decarbonization in the local area through this project and work with Aichi Prefecture to create new hydrogen demand and realize a supply system.
