合繊糸・綿(わた)・不織布の価格改定(値上げ)について

Regarding the price revision (price increase) of synthetic fibers, cotton and non-woven fabrics.

Toray Industries ·  Jun 15 23:00

Toray Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mitsuo Oya; hereafter “Toray”) will now sell nylon 6 yarn (long fiber), cotton (short fiber), nylon 66 yarn (long fiber), cotton (short fiber), nylon BCF yarn (long fiber), polyester yarn (long fiber), cotton (short fiber), long fiber nonwovens (Axter), polypropylene long fiber nonwovens, and acrylic cotton (short fibers) to be sold to various fields for clothing and industrial use from 2024/7 Price revisions (price increases) will be implemented.
The current price revision (price increase) range is +20 yen to 80 yen/kg.

In addition to the increase in domestic transportation costs from April, which was announced in March, freight rates and freight costs for importing raw materials and raw yarn have continued to rise due to continued congestion on the Suez Panama Canal due to changes in the international situation, and transportation to avoid conflict zones. In addition, labor costs and outsourcing costs to maintain personnel and labor shortages at domestic production plants at Toray Industries and partner plants are also rising. Furthermore, the cost of raw materials and imported raw yarn has risen further due to the depreciation of the yen, which remains high in the latter half of the 150 yen range.

Under such circumstances, Toray has continued self-help efforts by thoroughly reducing and improving efficiency on all items of fixed costs and proportional costs. Even in the new medium-term management issue “Project AP-G 2025,” which began in fiscal 2023, we are promoting the “Total Cost Reduction Project,” a cross-organizational cost reduction activity that leverages the overall strength of the organization, and thorough cost reduction efforts are being strengthened.
We have been striving for continuous cost reduction and rationalization from every angle, but the situation is extremely severe, exceeding the level that can be absorbed through self-help efforts alone. Under such an environment, we decided to implement price increases in order to maintain and promote a system for supplying products with stable quality and developing and proposing even higher value-added products.
