Concluding a basic agreement to examine the “flying car” business in the Kingdom of Thailand - Aiming to develop a city utilizing next-generation air mobility with Saha Pattana Interholding and SkyDrive

TOKYU ·  Jun 27 23:00

Tokyu Corporation established joint venture Sahatokyu Corporation with Thai major conglomerate Sahagroup in 2014. We promote rental housing business for Japanese people in Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, Thailand.
Recently, Sahatokyu Corporation has signed a basic agreement with SkyDrive Inc., a company that develops and manufactures next-generation air mobility/flying cars*, and Sahapatana Inter-Holding Co., Ltd., a core company of Sahagroup, for a future business feasibility of flying cars in Thailand on June 28, 2024 (Friday).
Si Racha, Thailand, located about 100 km southeast from central Bangkok, has many Japanese people living there mainly because of the concentration of Japanese companies in the manufacturing industry in the surrounding area. It is also located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where the Thai government is promoting industrial attraction, and is an area expected to develop even further in the future.
Sahatokyu Corporation has implemented services such as "Harmonic Residence Siracha" for Japanese families living in Thailand and "Green Life Siracha" for single and married Japanese expatriates in Siracha. We have been committed to providing a beautiful living environment by introducing 24-hour security from Japanese security companies, separating pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the premises, and installing lush walking paths.
Sahatokyu aims to expand the demand for real estate services in association with the concentration of related companies, workforce and population growth due to new industry attraction in Si Racha. Also, SPI, which aims to improve the value of sustainable business, and SkyDrive, which aims to lead the mobility revolution once in a century and realize future the everyday use of the sky in the Asian region, have the same intention. The three companies signed this basic agreement.
Based on this basic agreement, in Thailand where chronic traffic congestion by automobile and environmental pollution by exhaust gas is a social issue, we will examine the use of the flying car "SKYDRIVE (SD-05)" developed by SkyDrive, starting with Siracha as a departure point.
Sahatokyu Corporation will leverage the network, including Japanese companies acquired in Thailand in the past, to support SkyDrive's expansion into Thailand and collaboration with SPI. We will serve as the main driver of this joint venture between SkyDrive and Sahagroup. Furthermore, we will provide real estate services in situations such as the development of bases, which are expected to increase due to the attraction of new industries, and employee living environments.
By collaborating with new industries such as SkyDrive, we aim to construct a diverse industry cluster that brings new added value and further develop an area that is even more attractive. Following this collaboration with SkyDrive, we will accelerate collaboration with other industries and contribute to the promotion and improvement of the regional economy in Thailand.
The details are as attached.
*A next-generation airborne means of transportation that is easy to use and sustainable, achieved through aviation technology such as electrification, automation, and vertical takeoff and landing.
