Bridgestone Corporation, participating in a project carried out by Fukuoka Biocommunity, is developing research to improve the productivity of natural rubber derived from Guayule. The Fukuoka Biocommunity is one of the regional biocommunities that promote characteristic bio-related activities according to the Bio-Strategy promoted by the Cabinet Office. It aims to form a bio-community where bio-related companies, research institutions, etc., are gathered in the center of Kurume City, where Bridgestone was founded, to create new industries and bio-ventures centered on biotechnology, with the Kurume Research Park as its secretariat through collaboration between the Fukuoka Prefecture and Kurume City. ^※1Bridgestone aims to promote the exploration of new seeds for the future, and is advancing the technology exploration of Guayule, which is expected to serve as a diverse raw material for natural rubber obtained from Para Rubber Trees, by focusing on 'co-creation with external partners' as one of its exploration businesses.
