On June 27, during the 2024 MWC Shanghai, an internal source from China Broadcasting revealed to Sina Technology that China Broadcasting's 5G NR broadcast will be officially launched next year, enabling watching TV without using mobile data.
In simple terms, 5G NR broadcast is a way of transmitting broadcast and television signals through broadcast and TV transmission towers and mobile cellular base stations using 5G technology, allowing TV programs that could only be watched on television to be watched on 5G terminals.
According to news from China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, during the 104th 3GPP RAN meeting held in Shanghai on June 17-20, 2024, the 3GPP Release 18 standard project of "NR User Equipment Multiple Input Multiple Output Air Interface Test Methods and Performance Requirements Enhancement" led by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology was approved for completion, successfully completing the R18 version evolution of international standard 3GPP TS38.151 and outputting technical report 3GPP TR38.761.
This marks the establishment of the "complete version" 5G Sub-6GHz and millimeter-wave band MIMO OTA performance requirement standards and new breakthrough in the standardization of 5G terminal testing in the industry.
