According to Cailian Press app, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Wednesday that Toyota Motor (TM.US) will recall 145,254 vehicles in the United States because their side-curtain airbags may deploy improperly. The recall involves certain 2024 SUV and hybrid car models, including Toyota Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, as well as Lexus TX350, TX500 Hybrid and TX550 Hybrid + models.
In some cases, the side-curtain airbags in these vehicles may not deploy properly. Specifically, in certain collision accidents, the driver's side side-curtain airbag may not deploy properly if the driver's window is rolled down, which undoubtedly increases the risk of passenger injury in an accident. NHTSA says a solution to this issue is currently in development.
