China Hainan Rubber Industry Group (601118.SH) announced that the 2023 National Science and Technology Award Conference was recently held in Peking, where the company's 'Breeding and Application of Cold-resistant and Wind-resistant High-yield Rubber Tree Varieties' project won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2023, which the company participated in and completed.

The project lasted for 37 years, overcoming technical difficulties such as the lack of resources for cold-resistant and wind-resistant rubber trees, long breeding cycles, and low efficiency. The project independently created high-yield new varieties of cold-resistant and wind-resistant rubber trees suitable for the environmental characteristics of China's planting areas. By mining and creating cold-resistant and wind-resistant high-yielding germplasm resources and establishing efficient breeding technology, the breeding cycle was shortened from 41 years to 27 years. Eight cold-resistant and wind-resistant high-yield rubber tree varieties were successfully bred, supporting the sustained expansion of rubber planting areas in China.
