Lightstone's business is to import, sell and localize technology-oriented software, mainly statistical and numerical data analysis software, to educational institutions such as universities and colleges nationwide, government research institutions, and corporate research departments. They also undertake the development, customization, and publication of software explanation manuals for technology-oriented software.

In June 2022, the company launched a business platform for manufacturing called "HEXAGON". They solicited endorsing companies and organizations for the purpose of sales and capital partnership for manufacturing with domestic venture and startup companies, joint development and productization support for embedded software products, sales and research support for manufacturing with academic institutions, joint development and productization support for embedded software, etc. They also collaborate with venture capitalists and M&A businesses to support venture and startup companies in terms of capital and financial resources. In addition, they aim to collaborate with municipalities that work on regional industrial promotion, corporate attraction, and regional revitalization to support venture and startup companies. The number of endorsing companies and organizations has greatly increased from 46 in May 2023 to 79 in April 2024 with a focus on venture and startup companies. Several discussions have already begun on joint development with the same company and product sales cases for manufacturing companies that have proposed specific estimates, specific collaboration cases with the company for commissioned development, and business activities proposing solutions in the manufacturing DX field, and commercialization is expected in the middle of the fiscal year ending March 2025.
In addition, the company collaborated with Kitakyushu City in November 2023 to establish the "Kitakyushu Business Innovation Center," a research and business base for semiconductor-related manufacturers in Kyushu.
