On June 26th, Caixin learned that Sany Group and Saudi sovereign fund PIF's subsidiary Saudi Global Ports (SGP) have reached an agreement worth USD 1.87 billion. Sany Group will deliver 80 electric trucks to the King Abdulaziz port in Dammam for green transportation at Saudi ports.
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) stated that this transaction is the world's largest single contract for the manufacture and supply of electric trucks.

Using electric trucks for transportation can achieve zero exhaust emissions, reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and play an important role in protecting the port environment. Omar Hariri, President of Mawani, emphasized that the use of electric trucks for green transportation in Saudi ports will help the port's development and modernization, making it an efficient, flexible and sustainable logistics center.
The agreement was signed during the China International Transportation and Logistics Expo held in Shanghai on June 25th. More than 700 exhibitors showcased their products in a 50,000 square meter exhibition space, and exchanged the latest development trends.
This is not the first time that Sany Group has sold machinery and equipment to Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, Sany delivered 50 dump trucks to Saudi Arabia for the construction of the USD 500 billion new city NEOM. Over 1,700 Sany equipment, including cranes, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and concrete pumps, have been deployed at the NEOM construction site, providing strong support for the project's construction.
In the long run, Sany's electric trucks can contribute to combating climate change and are consistent with Saudi Arabia's '2030 Vision' sustainable development goals.
