DFA Global Investment Management, in conjunction with the World Gold Council, has released the Gold Insights report.

The survey interviewed 850 consultants, financial advisors, and institutions globally, including 63 institutional investors in the Asia-Pacific region. The results showed that 24% of institutional investors in the Asia-Pacific region do not invest in gold, the same proportion as in North America.

DFA Global Investment Management's Asia-Pacific gold strategist, Xu Zhijie, said that more Asia-Pacific institutional investors (27%) than North American investors (21%) expect to increase their gold investments in the next 12 to 18 months. The survey showed that increasing numbers of institutional investors in the Asia-Pacific region view gold as a core asset for long-term investment, fully demonstrating gold's advantages in improving portfolio balance and diversification.

Among the 76% of asset holders in the Asia-Pacific region who have gold investments, 22% allocate 0.1% to 0.9% of their assets to gold, 46% allocate 1% to 4.9% of their assets to gold, and 8% allocate 5% or more of their assets to gold.

Xu Zhijie also pointed out that since 2008, whenever Federal Fund interest rates have been lowered, gold has risen. He believes that when the Fed shifts to loose monetary policy in the second half of this year, gold will continue to be supported.
