On June 24th, Zhongjiao Design (600720.SH) announced that the 2023 National Science and Technology Awards were unveiled in Peking. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge cross-sea cluster project, which was led by its subsidiary, China Road and Bridge Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd. (CRBPDI), and spearheaded by design, was awarded the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

As the leading design and research unit of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge cross-sea cluster project, the CRBPDI played a core role in engineering design technology innovation and progress over a period of 15 years. During the project, CRBPDI completed the feasibility study of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the overall design, led the joint team of bridge island and tunnel initial design and construction design, and completed all stages of specialized technical research work; was fully responsible for the bridge and tunnel engineering design and critical technology research, and participated in key technology research of artificial islands; responsible for implementing the national science and technology support plan for bridge island and tunnel engineering innovation research; and led the technical service in the later stage of construction of the bridge island and tunnel. In the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the CRBPDI has achieved several key core technology innovations, including the bridge island and tunnel design and construction technology of “large-scale, standardized, modular and prefabricated”, multi-dimensional integrated design technology with engineering, art, culture and environment, coordinated design theory of sunken tubes and foundation, new semi-rigid sunken tube structure and overall reversible installation rapid closing joint technology, sunken tube composite foundation + combination foundation technology, large diameter steel pipe composite pile technology, and GMA + SMA steel bridge pavement technology, etc. The related research has played a key role in promoting China’s cross-sea bridge island and tunnel engineering technology to the international leading level, and has made important contributions to the high-quality construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge main project.
