JD.com will launch Vision Pro.

With the imminent launch of Apple's Vision Pro in China, domestic internet giants are starting to seize the new XR frontier,$JD-SW (09618.HK)$/$JD.com (JD.US)$and are also joining the competition.

Recently, JD.com announced that JD.Vision will be one of the first Vision Pro applications released in China. Vision Pro is Apple's first spatial computing device, allowing users to have a completely new 3D interactive experience through eye, hand and voice control. This means that, in addition to computers and mobile phones, JD.com will further occupy the XR hardware market.

If the JD.com app is positioned as a shopping platform based on mobile computing, then JD.Vision is an immersive shopping platform based on spatial computing.

Launching the Vision version is a bet on the future of JD.com.

According to JD.com retail technology personnel responsible for JD.Vision development, if spatial computing technology continues to develop and the devices become widely popular, it will definitely be an important part of the next generation of e-commerce.

Through the JD.Vision app, users can "drag and drop" their desired home appliances, home furnishings or trendy digital products to their homes in a 1:1 ratio, and match and preview them in an augmented reality environment. This solves the problem of size and style matching in traditional online shopping.

The aforementioned JD retail technology personnel said they want JD.Vision to bring users a three-dimensional and intuitive feeling for products. Users can place or match the products from various angles before placing an order, and view the corresponding display effects in three dimensions, giving consumers a new immersive shopping experience.

JD Vision's first phase will focus on home scenarios and cover multiple home appliances and trendy digital products, including Samsung TV, Casarte refrigerators, Hangzhou Robam Appliances, and gradually expand to all categories.

In addition, JD.com has also combined Vision Pro technology with the Jingdong Yun Yanshi large model technology to launch the intelligent shopping guide service "Xiao Mengchong Joy." By interacting with it, users can gradually clarify their needs and obtain increasingly accurate content or product recommendations.

The aforementioned JD personnel said the company has long-term plans for this, and next, JD.com will definitely keep up with technology and continuously iterate in an agile manner.

The possibilities that technology brings are enormous. From offline to B2C, and then to O2O, the combination of online and offline is becoming closer and closer, and the requirement for timeliness is getting higher and higher. JD.com believes that the future of e-commerce will be a fully-scenario shopping experience, and Vision Pro will bring more possibilities by solving shopping pain points.

Facing spatial computing devices, Alibaba, Tencent, and others are also actively deploying. In this regard, the aforementioned JD technology personnel said the company's advantages mainly lie in business models, online and offline, and user perception.

Unlike other platforms, JD.com is a self-operated plus pop model, backed by a professional procurement and sales team and strong supply chain capabilities, which allows a more in-depth investigation at the product level. JD.com also has offline layouts such as JD Super, Qixian and Wuxing Electronics, which can be effectively integrated with online operations. Moreover, JD.com's user perception includes authentic products and fast delivery, which leads to high consumer trust.

However, the launch of JD.Vision is just the beginning and is still in the exploration phase. Future development will inevitably be limited by the sales of Apple Vision Pro in China.

At the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference two weeks ago, Apple announced that the starting price of Apple Vision Pro in China would be 29,999 yuan and it would be officially released on June 28th. Due to high pricing and other reasons, the presale situation in China is generally not satisfactory.

The iteration of technology itself is highly uncertain, but it is also because of this that once the bet is successful, JD.com will have the opportunity to win more chips in the fiercely competitive e-commerce market. From this perspective, JD.Vision shoulders a heavy responsibility.
