Kenji Matsumoto (currently Senior Managing Director of Sumitomo Electric (Suzhou) Optoelectronic Devices Co., Ltd.) was awarded the 2024 Merit Award by the Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC), a public interest incorporated association that standardizes and promotes information and communication networks, for his achievements in standardization activities related to optical fiber systems. The award ceremony was held on June 18 at Hotel Gajoen Tokyo and a certificate of commendation was presented by TTC.

As the advancement of data-driven society requires high-capacity and low-delay communication networks, standardization efforts for technologies such as optical fibers are essential. Encouraged by this award, the Sumitomo Electric Group will continue to contribute to the standardization of information and communication technologies.
