Under the amendment of the regulations for regulating nuclear reactors, if a nuclear power plant has been in operation for more than 30 years, an evaluation of deterioration due to aging must be conducted and a long-term facility management plan that compiles the evaluation results and specific maintenance activities to be implemented in the future must be created and approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Therefore, for Units 1 and 2 of the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant, since they have been in operation for over 30 years from the start of operation by the time of the enforcement of the Act (June 6, 2025), in addition to the application for permission to extend operation period we received from the Commission on November 1, 2023, we have developed a long-term facility management plan that manages the discontinuation of manufacturing products and other supply chain management, and deterioration management based on a quality management system. We submitted it to the Commission today.

We will sincerely and carefully respond to the national review in the future and actively strive for information disclosure in order to gain the trust and security of the local community.
