According to Nikkei News, Takahiro Tambara, Chief Information Officer of Fast Retailing (06288.HK), parent company of Uniqlo, said that they plan to use digital tracking technology in supplier factories to help prevent popular commodities from going out of stock. He said that tracking raw materials is very important, which allows stores and factories to be closely connected. If the company can master the status of raw materials and prepare in advance, customers can be more confident in obtaining the desired products. Currently, the company is working with outsourcing factories mainly located in China, Southeast Asia and South Asia to implement inventory control plans.

Starting in 2017, Fast Retailing began using RFID tags on finished products. Tambara said that they have not yet decided whether to use RFID tags or QR codes in the production stage for tracking and are still in the process of repeated testing without a definite timeline.
