According to sources, each party in the dispute has appointed one arbitrator, and they are to nominate the third arbitrator. Currently, the third and last arbitrator has not been appointed yet. As Hess predicted, the delay may mean that no decision will be made this year. The uncertainty of whether the deal can proceed has put pressure on Chevron's stock price, which has fallen nearly 8% since the transaction was disclosed. Chevron originally hoped to complete the acquisition of Hess in the first half of this year. Last month, Hess's shareholders supported the proposed sale by a slim majority of 51%.
