According to local media reports, the cinema located in Langham Place in Mong Kok will close in mid-July. The Kowloon Bay International Trade Centre, 'Star Cinema', also belonging to Cinema City, will also close on the 30th of this month due to reconstruction. In other words, there will only be two Cinema City cinemas left in Hong Kong, one in Tsuen Wan and one in Chai Wan Wincent Centre.

According to reports, a Cinema City employee in Langham Place said the cinema will close in mid-July and will be taken over by another company to continue operating. However, there is no definite date yet, and it is not known which cinema chain will take over. Details are pending official announcement.

According to information from the Land Registry, the company that leased the space in Langham Place cinema is called 'SUPREME EASY INVESTMENT LIMITED' and its registered address is a unit in block 2, Admiralty Centre. The contact address on Broadway Cinematheque's official website is the same as well. Unlike previous ten-year leases between cinemas and landlords, the new tenant's lease term has been reduced to eight years and four months, effective July 23 this year.

Film producer Raymond Wong's Cinema City signed a ten-year lease to lease the Langham Place cinema in July 2014 for a monthly rent of HKD 5.776 million. The lease will expire this July.
