Mitsubishi Chemical Group's high-performance polycarbonate resin, "XANTAR/Zantar K Series," has been adopted for the housing (back panel) of the smart phone "Nothing Phone (2a)" created by London-based digital product company NOTHING. XANTAR is a high-performance polycarbonate resin with a proven track record of being employed for a wide range of purposes due to its superior transparency, impact resistance, flame retardancy, heat resistance, and electrical properties. The "XANTAR K series" adopted this time is a special polycarbonate resin developed by utilizing the polymerization and compounding technologies that our group has cultivated over the years. As compared to general polycarbonate resins, it has a high surface hardness, and it has been adopted for smart phone housings and automobile interior components as a material that improves scratch resistance, which is the weakness of polycarbonate resins. Additionally, a wide lineup is available to meet customer needs, such as high flame retardant, low dielectric constant, low birefringence, selective wavelength absorption, water repellent, and recyclable materials.
